none As directed by the provider, the individual is responsible for rendering professional clinical assistance to patients within the medical practice in support of a provider.
Works directly with a provider as a liaison between the patient and the provider for establishing and maintaining quality patient care.
PRIMARY
Responsibilities:
May function as a scribe to the provider.
Evaluation and management of all patients in a medical assistant capacity Greets all patients and visitors with courteous, pleasant manner.
Answers telephone in courteous manner taking messages or directing calls as needed.
Triage patient by performing vital signs and history taking.
May be required to draw blood for lab tests.
Provides education to patients related to practice specialty.
Completes necessary information for patient referrals.
Keeps work area neat and organized.
Demonstrates ability to understand, accept, and apply direction given in specific areas of assignment.
Interview patient and collect clinical data elements.
Obtain and document medication list, allergies, vital signs, patient complaint, and medical history in the patient chart.
Communicate concerns and/or problems regarding the patient to the provider/provider.
Remain available for the provider as much as possible.
Assist provider in patient rooms, if needed.
Create and maintain accurate and complete documentation including the patient medication list, allergies, chart notes and detail documentation regarding phone calls into the electronic medical record.
Communicate with other departments to assist with patient flow.
Respond to phone calls such as:
pharmacy refills, patients, provider offices, home health agencies, etc.
Explain diagnostic procedures to patients from the direction of the provider or Clinical Coordinator.
Assist in filling out forms such as home health requests, employee medical leave forms, work/school doctors excuses, handicap license, etc.
Perform insurance pre-certifications prior to testing (when required).
Assist in the ordering of medical supplies.
Assist with all mandated clinic checks.
Maintains appointment schedules including patient appointment, follow up visits, Physician appointments and procedure schedules, meetings, etc.
Maintains and performs scheduled clinical tasks including but not limited to stocking exam rooms (pamphlets, etc.
) sanitizing exam tables and instruments, and changing linens.
Schedules ancillary services as needed.
Obtains necessary authorizations from payers for outpatient or inpatient services.
Assist providers with obtaining quality data from the patients that will be used by CMS or other payers to measure quality performance.
Also, entering the data obtained accurately into the EMR.
Take personal accountability for the patient satisfaction scores that are directly related to this position.
Offer process improvement suggestions to increase the patient satisfaction scores to the 99th percentile.
Assists other providers in the practice as requested by management.
Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:
Educational and/or Professional
Qualifications:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant training Program preferred.
Previous Experience 1.
Must possess good interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
Other Special Training or Skills 1.
Receives on the job training for office specific tasks 2.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

Ability to learn quickly from oral and written instructions.

Typing skills required.

Demonstrates good interpersonal skills.
Licenses/Certifications 1.
Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Occasional kneeling and stair climbing.
Must be able to see (near, far, and have depth perception), hear, talk, have use of right and left hands, have dexterity in fingers.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
